If you’re a family member of an addict/alcoholic, seeking support for a loved one in or out of active addiction, ready to rediscover yourself, set boundaries, and embrace peace, join us for a transformative travel retreat. Experience a journey to Antigua of healing, cultural immersion, and supportive community, and return home feeling recharged, connected, and ready to reclaim your life.
Day 1 Saturday: Welcome to Guatemala Fly into Guatemala City Airport, where our friendly driver will greet you and transport you to the enchanting city of Antigua, a scenic 1½-hour drive away. We encourage you to arrive by 3pm to fully enjoy the warm welcome that awaits. Upon arrival, enjoy refreshing beverages and mocktails, with local delicacies as you meet our staff and retreat leader. In the evening, gather for an introductory time and fellowship, setting the tone for your transformative journey ahead.
Day 2-5 Sun-Wed: Workshops, Wellness & Exploration Most days begin with mindful movement followed by a nourishing breakfast. Morning sessions, led by our expert retreat leader. You’ll explore, among other topics how to navigate the challenges of loving someone in addiction, let go of guilt and resentment, and strengthen your sense of self. These transformative workshops will empower you to reclaim your joy and create a life of balance and fulfillment. Afternoons are yours to relax and explore. Lounge by the pool, stroll through Antigua’s vibrant markets and ancient ruins, or savor the city’s finest coffee in cozy cafes. For adventure, join optional excursions like volcano hikes, a tour of Macadamia plantations, a traditional Guatemalan cooking workshop, or cultural visits supporting Mayan communities.
Day 6 Thursday: Sacred Journey To Iximché And Lake Atitlán Begin your day with an early departure from Antigua to the ancient ruins of Iximché, the first capital of the Kaqchikel Maya. Explore this spiritual site steeped in history, then take part in a powerful Mayan ceremony led by a local shaman to connect with ancient traditions. Next, travel to the breathtaking Lake Atitlán, framed by volcanoes and vibrant Mayan villages. Visit the charming town of San Antonio Palopó, known for its colorful pottery workshops and traditional weavings. Continue to Santa Catarina Palopó, where the hillside houses painted in Mayan patterns complement the serene lakeside church. End the day with a relaxing lakefront dinner, savoring local cuisine as you take in the stunning views of the lake and surrounding volcanoes—a perfect close to a day of culture, history, and natural beauty.
Day 7 Friday: Reflect and Recharge After breakfast and a morning yoga or stretch class, join the retreat leader for another insightful workshop, designed to deepen your recovery journey. The afternoon is yours to relax by the pool or hot tub, giving you time to reflect on your experiences and prepare for the journey ahead. Our farewell dinner is also a culinary class in the villa where you will learn to make Antigua’s famous “pepian”.
Day 8 Saturday: Departure or Continued Exploration Your transformative travel retreat concludes today as you transfer back to the airport for your flight home.
