PORTER
A brewer once told me the difference between a stout and a porter is what the brewer calls it. With that in mind, it can be up to the drinker to decide what sets these dark brews apart from their stout sisters. I find a Porter to be somewhere between a stout and an ale, with notes of coffee and chocolate, but each brewery spruces them up their own way, sometimes leaning hard into the coffee (Athletic Brewing’s First Ride) or adding something altogether different, like coconut (Bravus Brewing’s Coconut Porter)!
Do you have a recommendation for a Porter that’s not listed here? Tell me about it! Email me at Beersand90s@gmail.com or slide into my DMs on Instagram @beersand90s
